Harking back to the traditional materials used in homeowner Jill’s childhood neighbourhood in England, this house in Hawea Flat was created using straw bale construction both for exterior walls and for many of the internal walls. The result is a cosy and calming atmosphere inside and a home that retains heat passively, helping to leave a minimal footprint on the environment.
